Personal Independence Payment (PIP) was introduced in June 2013 and is gradually replacing the Disability Living Allowance for people aged 16 – 64 (children under the age of 16 can claim the DLA for children. PIP is available to help with some of the extra costs caused by long-term ill-health or disability.
You must have lived in Great Britain for at least two of the last three years and be aged 16 – 64. You must have a long-term health condition or a disability that affects daily activities and/or mobility for at least three months and expect the condition to last for more than nine months.
PIP is made up of two components and you could get one or both of these, depending on your condition:
Daily living component:
standard - £58.70
enhanced - £87.65
standard - £23.20
enhanced - £61.20
