Women's Engineering Society

If you are a woman and wish to train in engineering, science or technology, grants may be available to help you to pay for your studies
What is the Women's Engineering Society?

The Women's Engineering Society (WES) was founded in 1919 to encourage, help and support women into engineering. It is a not-for-profit network of women engineers, scientists and technologists.

What funding is available from the Women's Engineering Society?

The WES administers various bursary and award schemes for women who are interested in becoming engineers, scientists or technologists. Although schemes vary from year to year, funds may be available for women undertaking HND or first degree courses, and for women who have already graduated but who wish to continue with their professional development.

What are the eligibility criteria for funding from the Women's Engineering Society?

These vary, depending on the scheme and the type of award. In general, you will need to be a woman who is intending to study on a science, computing or engineering course, or a woman who has already graduated as a scientist, engineer or technologist. You will need to be able to demonstrate commitment to your profession and show that you are in financial need. Some schemes also require that you are legally permitted to live and work in the UK.

How much money is available from the Women's Engineering Society?

Funding amounts and schemes vary from year to year, so you will need to contact the WES direct to find out what is available. If you are unsuccessful you may be able to obtain a loan for your studies instead.

How do I apply for funding from the Women's Engineering Society?

Application procedures vary, depending on the scheme. Contact the WES for information about application procedures and closing dates.

Where can I obtain more information about the Women's Engineering Society?

More information about the bursaries and awards offered by the WES can be obtained from the Women's Engineering Society website.
