There are various ways to get cheap travel for your family:

  • If your children are under the age of 25, encourage them to take advantage of all the travel discounts that are available for young people.

  • If your children are students, encourage them to take advantage of all the travel discounts that are available for students.

  • Buy a Family and Friends Railcard if you have children aged 5 - 15 years and you travel by train often. The card costs £30 for a 1 year Railcard or £70 for a 3 year Railcard, and saves you a third off adult and 60% off kids' fares across Britain for a year.

  • Buy a coachcard if you travel by coach. Three different cards are available: a Senior Coachcard for people 60 years or over; a Young Persons Coachcard for people aged 16 – 26; and a Disabled Coachcard for anyone who is registered as disabled.

  • Megatrain and Megabus offer very cheap fares if you are flexible about when you want to travel and if you can book in advance.
